Britten Shopping Centre

THE BRITTEN CENTRE

The centre itself was built on old rectory parkland hence locals still call it the prairie the road sign is still in place over WH Smiths. The Britten Centre is named after local boy Benjamin Britten who turned out to be one of the greatest music composers of his time. A magnificent Victorian style roof covers the whole centre and with no steps on ground level and easy access to the Bus Station, Multi storey car park and library makes this ideal for the disabled.

The centre was opened in 1987 with over 100,000 sq. ft of shopping floor space available with the hope to enhance the towns main shopping area and this has been achieved with a great mix of shops over the years making this a great place to shop and eat.

Public toilets, library, multi storey car park and Bus station are all on the doorstep its O so close.

We want every visitor to enjoy and relax and feel safe while they are shopping even if it's a quick visit or you are shopping the whole day away this is enhanced by the friendly and welcoming shop staff and managers.

The Security team has a discreet presence within the centre to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors and are always on hand to help.

There is a traditional open air market held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays with a good mixture of stalls to wander round.
